Principal Message
Dear Students, Families, Alumni, Friends, Neighbors, and Guests of ASB School,
Welcome to Assumption-St. Bridget School, where we are all Inspired to Learn, Called to Serve, and Prepared to Lead! As principal, I am fortunate to be able to share my story and the impact this wonderful school has had on my own life. As a graduate of ASB, I know firsthand the values, faith, academic excellence, and belief in service that was instilled in my time as a student. I also had the great gift of attending ASB while my own father was principal here. In his 19 years as principal, he worked hard to ensure that our foundation in Catholic faith, academic excellence, and belief in the success of all children remained the roots of who we are as a school community.
I have also had the blessing of being a parent in the ASB community and have two proud Bulldog graduates! Watching their development and growth not only in academics and faith, but in their confidence, perseverance, and understanding of who they are in both a local and global context has only reaffirmed my commitment to the Catholic education we provide.
Beginning as a 1st grade teacher, working to develop our middle school support program, and now as principal, I have witnessed students thrive academically, socially and spiritually. Our rigorous academic curriculum and commitment to ongoing professional development provides our students a solid foundation, developing their ability to think critically as competent and confident learners. Our drama, music, and visual arts programming develops creativity and challenges students to push themselves in their artistic ventures. Through our physical education, integrated technology, self-regulation, and missionary discipleship curriculums, our students receive a breadth of experience as well as learning how to be respectful and contributing members of a global community.
Students at ASB are expected to embrace a growth mindset, apply grit and resilience, and embrace opportunity for innovation, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. These skills result in our graduates leaving as self-directed learners, effective communicators, and highly prepared to continue their academic, spiritual and moral growth, developing into the leaders and problem-solvers our world needs each day.
Community is central to who we are at ASB. The partnership between faculty, staff, parents, families, alumni and community members creates a vibrant, dynamic, and supportive experience for everyone who walks through our doors. I invite you to come visit our outstanding school in Northeast Seattle and meet us, talk with us, and join us in celebrating our Catholic education! Go Bulldogs!
With gratitude,
Kathleen Conklin ’95
