Attendance

Daily Schedule:
Monday: 8:30am – 2:00pm
Tuesday – Friday: 8:30am to 3:00pm

We rely on parents to ensure children are at school each day, on time and ready to learn. When students are ill they need to stay home, both for their own well-being and the health of their classmates. In other non-illness situations, we ask that parents minimize time away from school. Missing school creates many challenges for students, and it is impossible to duplicate the classroom experience for an absent student. We recognize such absences will happen occassionally. In those instances, please submit a PrePlanned Absence Form at least two weeks in advance of the absence.

Students who are consistently tardy disrupt the class, as well as their own learning. They may be required to make up class time that they miss.

We encourage parents to schedule appointments such as dentist and doctor visits during non-school hours. If this is not possible, please email both your child’s teacher and attendance@asbschool.org.

Absences

Illness/Unplanned

Parents must notify the office on the day of absence by 9:00 a.m. (206.524.7452 ext. 85, or email attendance@asbschool.org. To ensure your child’s safety, you will be called when the school has not been notified of an absence.

Students should not attend school when they are ill. Doing so endangers not only their own health, but also the health of their fellow classmates and teachers. Student must be fever, diarrhea and vomiting-free for 24 hours prior to returning to school. When students return after an illness, it is important that they are well enough to go out at recess and fully participate in class.

Pre-Planned

We ask that parents minimize time away from school as much as possible. Missing school creates many challenges for students, and it is impossible to duplicate the classroom experience for an absent student. We recognize such absences will happen occassionally. In those instances, please submit a PrePlanned Absence Form at least two weeks in advance of the absence. Please refer to the ASB Family Handbook for more information.
