Jan Myers '73

Jan began her career at Assumption St. Bridget school in 1994 working part-time in third grade. In 1995, she joined the fourth grade team. Jan is a very proud Washington State University alumni. At WSU, she earned her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. In addition to her BA, Jan also earned Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. While teaching at ASB, Jan has been trained in the Slingerland Method, completing years one and two.

Catholic education has been a mainstay in Jan’s entire life and it is only natural that she chose to teach at a catholic school where the foundation is in a faith -based education. Jan feels very fortunate that she has been able to be apart of ASB, where the staff is hard -working and the parents are involved and committed. Together they are dedicated to the academic, social, and spiritual growth of each and every child.

Jan believes that learning should be fun and challenging. “If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” This quote by Ignacio Estrada represents Jan’s teaching philosophy. “Teaching and education are not one size fits all.”
