ASB Principal Search 2018

The Assumption-St. Bridget community is undergoing a principal search to appoint a permanent
principal who will begin in summer of 2018. The Principal Search Committee serves as a representation
of the broader ASB community and believes it will be important to be as communicative and transparent
as possible during this process. This web page serves as a means of communication to the broader ASB
community about the process, progress, and work of the Principal Search Committee. This page will be
maintained and updated throughout the search process.

Progress Updates

Monday, February 5:

The committee met on Monday, Feb. 5. A decision was made to add a closing date of Tuesday, February 20 to our job posting. We discussed the results of the survey and the themes that arose through both the survey and the faculty/staff listening session. These themes will inform the interview questions and the ideals that we will be looking for as we evaluate candidates.

Friday, February 2:

Our survey closed on Friday, Feb. 2. The committee extends a huge thank you to the 275 community members who took time to provide feedback through our survey! The committee is now taking time to read through all of the responses and identify themes. It is clear that our community cares deeply about the future of ASB and has a wonderful variety of ideas and thoughts about our next principal. We are committed to representing these throughout the process.

Thursday, January 25:

Fr. Oliver and members of the search committee met with the ASB faculty and staff on Thursday, Jan. 25. This listening session was established to provide faculty and staff members with an opportunity to express to the search committee what their hopes are for their next principal, what skills and characteristics they are looking for, and what kinds of questions they might ask principal candidates. Faculty members were also encouraged to share their thoughts through the community survey.

Tuesday, January 22:

  • The search committee distributed a survey to community members. The link to the survey can be found above.
  • The search committee posted the Principal job listing. The link to the job listing can be found above.

Tuesday, January 16:

  • The search committee sent an introductory letter to the community.
  • The search committee met with Karen Tarabochia, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel/Catholic Schools to discuss the steps of the process and determine tasks for committee members. The most immediate tasks include:
      • Creating lines of communication between the search committee and the community
        through the weekly newsletter and the school website.
      • Creating a survey for community members.
      • Creating a posting the job advertisement.

The search committee will be advised by Karen Tarabochia, Assistant Superintendent for
Personnel/Catholic Schools at the Archdiocese of Seattle.
