Dear Parents,
Enclosed are the individual test results for the Washington Assessment of Student Learning that your child took last spring. While we do still see areas for growth, we are very pleased with the results.
Our school results are listed below. They are listed as percentages of students who met the standards set in that area. All sixty students were tested in each grade level.
Meeting or exceeding the standards in 4th Grade:
|
Reading 90% |
Math 83% |
Listening 92% |
Meeting or exceeding the standards in 7th Grade:
|
Reading 90% |
Math 77% |
Listening 100% |
Please note: The WASL did include a writing component, and you will see scores for writing on the individual report. However, those scores have been called into question. Some problems have been found with those scores, and the tests are being re-scored. You will receive corrected scores later this fall. Disregard writing scores on this report.
We have enclosed a booklet from the Superintendent of Public Instruction that contains valuable information about the tests and interpreting the scores. Information on how to read the report is on page 7. Please remember two things if your child has not yet met a standard. First, this assessment marks progress toward a standard and does not compare a student's growth against the performance of others. It is a good tool to identify areas in which the student needs to grow. And secondly, it assists us in identifying areas for improvement in our programs.
Feel free to call either of us if you have further questions.
Sincerely,
|
