ASSUMPTION-ST. BRIDGET SCHOOL

GOVERNANCE COUNCIL

November 15, 2007

Dear Members of Assumption Parish, St. Bridget Parish, and Families of ASB School:

During the 2005-2006 school year, the ASB Governance Council began a review of the school’s admissions policy. As part of this discussion, the Governance Council, together with the pastors of both parishes and the principal, felt that the existing policy was unfair. According to the existing policy, parish families with siblings in the school had top priority, but out-of-parish families with siblings were only allotted space once new parish families had been admitted.

The existing policy did not reflect the sacred value that we, as a Catholic community, place on all families.

It was felt that the existing policy treated out-of-parish families unjustly. All families who attend ASB have made a commitment to our school, and our school must respect and reciprocate that commitment. Therefore, at their meeting on November 12, 2007, the Governance Council unanimously agreed to revise the current policy, effective immediately.

The new admissions priorities for Assumption-St. Bridget School are as follows:

  1. Families with siblings currently in or graduated from ASB School
  2. Parish families
  3. Out-of-parish Catholic families (also Orthodox Christian families)
  4. Out-of-parish non-Catholic families

This change affirms our commitment to all of the families of the ASB School community.

Sincerely yours,
