LRS Topic Preferences

Use this form to list three topics you would be interested in studying for your LRS project. You may choose something you already know a lot about, but you will be expected to explore your topic and learn much more about it than you already know.  When choosing your topic, you might wish to think about the kinds of resources available about it.  Some topics don’t have enough information to provide enough research material for a three-month long project such as the LRS.  One way to check on resources is to go to the Seattle Public Library website and search, or do a general Google (or other search engine) search.

This form is due tomorrow, January 5, 2010

These are the topics I am considering for my LRS project:

1. ______________________________________________________________

2. ______________________________________________________________

3. ______________________________________________________________

Dear Parents,

Part of your child’s homework tonight (besides choosing three possible topics) is to go through the information in the LRS section of his/her binder. We have provided a packet of information that should stay in this section of the binder. This packet includes a calendar with important due dates marked on it. Your child may use this calendar for planning when to get things done for the LRS.  We have also included more detailed information about the LRS (objectives, guidelines, expectations, etc.) and a list of due dates that can be kept on the fridge (or other prominent place at home).  We have included the forms that are to be turned in on each due date (in order of date due). If you lose any of these forms, they may be found on the ASB website under the “Parents” section, then the “LRS” section.

The information you read tonight should answer any questions you may have about the LRS; however, if you still have questions, please feel free to contact me.  I will try to post pictures of past LRS projects on the “LRS” section of the website, but you may also come into the classroom and view the samples I have here.

I have read through the LRS information packet with my child:
