Activities… *Reading and Writing Process- We are currently practicing
being active readers and close readers.
We are examining paragraphs and their many parts including topic
sentence (main idea) and supporting details.
We will most likely begin the Julie
of the Wolves the week of October 12. *Grammar-
We have begun our grammar studies, starting with nouns:
plural/singular, common/proper, abstract/concrete *Weekly Spelling Tests- Monday is the pretest and 3
pages are assigned to work on throughout the week. The pages and the final test are Friday. *Reading response journal-A reading response journal is
due by Friday every week. The purpose
of the response journal is to have an ongoing written conversation with me
about the books that students are reading outside of the classroom. Each student is required to be reading a book
of his/her choice. 10 minutes of
reading is required a day and a journal entry about the students
opinions/insights/reflections/connections is required. |
